Haircuts make me happy.
Why? Change can be extremely refreshing. When I get my hair cut I just feel like a new person. Sort of. But it really is very confident boosting to get a lovely new hair style. I don't know how some people can stand having the same type of hair for their whole life. It's like, whatever happened to being spontaneous?! You know, be whimsical. I'm not saying you should go off and dye your hair magenta just to try something new out. But you know, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Hmm, sorry for being rude but I honestly can't stand conservative anything. No conservative hair please. Go listen to the song It's Boring/You can Live Anywhere You Want by YACHT. It may do you some good. Depending on who you are that is. Sorry for being annoying and sorry for not posting anything yesterday. I'm no god, I have other important things to do too believe it or not. By the way Toy Story 3 is amazing, I cried my eyes out. It probably has one of the longest good-byes in movie history. Bring tissues to the theatre if you go see it.
STUFF THAT MAKES ME HAPPY
Okay, well this is obviously a very pathetic excuse for a blog. I hope it's not too terribly stupid. I'm trying to stay positive and that's what this is all about. Sorry I couldn't have come up with a more creative blog name. Anyways, music is amazing and umm the world is and will always be round and more people should eat tofu?

American Apparel makes me happy.
Why? It is one of the coolest "major" clothing stores I know of, in my opinions it's up there right next to Urban Outfitters. They have a lot of high quality casual clothes. Very comfy things for the most part at least. As you know I've been doing quite a large amount of shopping lately and I actually set foot in an American Apparel store for my very first time today. Before I had to just shop online and that can be a major pain. You know, you may really like something but you can't exactly try stuff on. And just so you know, their pants tend to run a bit small. I could barely get the size four pants on even though I normally wear a one or a two. I just thought that might be a handy piece of information for ya. The store was very neat and insanely awesome looking on the inside. If you ever pass by one I would highly recommend that you step inside and try at least three things on. I bought a lovely little black swimsuit, gray harem pants (my personal favorite,) and an oversized blue button-up shirt. I'm also fond of the store because the people in charge of it are pretty political. Like they have this totally wicked Legalize Gay shirt that I want so so much. My mom won't let me buy it though because she thinks I would get picked on for wearing it. She's probably right but it's not like people don't do that to me already. I don't care too much about other peoples opinions on me, thank goodness. Anyways, yay for awesome stores!

Okay, I'm sorry I didn't post anything, but Memphis makes me happy.
Why? It's insanely fun! I went to whole foods for lunch two days ago (while I was there of course;) I ate sushi. It was amazing, it had raw tuna in it as well as avocado and all sorts of other yummy little treats. I had a grapefruit Izzie with it. And let me tell you, you have not lived until you've tried one of those things. They are so so good. After my yummy little meal me and my mom went to Macy's. And of course we promised ourselves that we wouldn't buy anything, but that wasn't the case. We got a ton of Lush stuff but this time managed somehow to spend less than one hundred dollars. That was probably a record low for us. We're organic soap fanatics. Anyways, I also got a "man" wallet because I was in desperate need of one because of my trip. I bought myself some over-all shorts, a Queen shirt, and a Van Halen shirt... There was some other stuff too but those three items are my personal favorites. After our shopping spree, my mom and I had barbeque with Freddie Frog and his wife, Kay. For those of you who don't know, Freddie Frog is my mom's cousin. He is so nice. And the barbeque was fantastic, and I don't even like that kind of stuff at all. We ate at Central's BBQ. It's really cool because it's owned by the sort of old hippie guy. Yeah, it's the only barbeque place I've seen with a surf board inside it. There's also a giant faux Woodstock poster that says Peace Love Pork on it rather than Peace Love Music. It was really funny. Well, I have to go to the doctor's office with my aunt in like... ten minutes and I haven't eaten anything yet, so ciao!

Packing for long trips makes me happy.
Why? I like planning things. Like seriously, I already know exactly what I want to wear to this Lady Gaga concert I'm going to even though it's a little less then eleven MONTHS away from now. What can I say, I'm quite odd. Anyways, back to the packing thing... I'm flying to Pittsburgh tomorrow, as I'm sure you already know if you've been reading my blog or you're one of my besties. I love picking clothes to wear. Mainly because I love clothes. But I think most people do. I mean, they may say they don't but they're probably not telling the whole truth. I always manage to forget to pack socks or something essential like that. It always makes me so mad. But I'm good at packing so yay me! I ought to go now. Toodles!

Eating ice cream makes me happy.
Why? Ice cream has to be one of the best junk foods on the planet. I love it. I also think it's really funny though. Like, watching people (especially little kids) eat it is hilarious. It tends to melt faster than you would think too. What really confuses me is how every time eat it I manage to cut my tongue. Usually on the cone but today when I had a McFlurry thing I cut myself on the spoon. I think there must be something wrong with me. Anyways, I really have to go pack for my trip tomorrow so I really can't write anymore, sorry.

Parents that don't roll their eyes make me happy.
Why? It seems to be my mom's new favorite thing to do and it's driving me up the wall. Like lets say I accidentally knock over a stack of books she'll let out this totally exaggerated sigh and she'll do the obnoxious eye rolling thing. Or the other day we were at the super market and she asked me if I wanted some smoked almonds and I said I wasn't really fond of them. She slammed them back on the shelf and sis it again. It's like, what the heck! I just said I didn't like almonds, what's the big deal? It made me really mad, like I wanted to run down the aisles of the store smashing everything. I know I probably shouldn't say stuff like that but at least I'm being honest. I'm sick of it. So yay for parents that are actually nice. (I'm not saying my mom isn't nice she can be really awesome but lately she's been a meanie.)

The fact that I'm not flying to Pittsburgh today makes me happy.
Why? Then I would be missing out on all sorts of exciting events here. I originally did want to leave early this morning though because one of my very favorite bands is having a concert there tonight. Beach House. And yeah, it's a bummer I won't be there but it's not like it's their last concert or anything. Maybe I'll get to see them some other time. But tomorrow is going to be amazing. I'm going to go to the Rosenbaum house tomorrow with Mrs. Turner and after that I'm going over to April's house and then we're going to an AYSO pool party together. Once that's done with I get to spend the night at her house. Yay! I'm very excited. On Friday I'm going to this VBS thing with her too and then Latosha and I are going back to McFarland park and we're also going to go to Funland. I think on Saturday I'm going to go see Toy Story 3 with her, my mom, Susan, and River. I hate being that busy normally, but I am leaving on the twentieth and this just makes me feel loved.

Germany makes me happy.
Why? I lived there for six months and I guess I just became very attached to it. I love the people there. Unlike Americans they don't just sit around and watch TV all day so they tend to be more fit. They have much better taste in clothes for the most part. You know, a lot of the guys there don't dress like slobs. I do think a larger ratio of them smoke and drink though. That doesn't really bother me though. I love Munich. The scenery is just breathtaking. There was a huge garden very close to my house and I used to go there all the time. My feet sort of got sore frequently from all of the walking I had to do. It didn't really bug me though, I got pretty used to it. It's so beautiful. There are cobbled streets and gorgeous old churches. I swear, I've seen some of the most incredible architecture there. I lived in a one room apartment in the airplane museum in Oberschleissheim. It was very close to a sort of palace and everyday I would walk in front of it to get to school. I loved my routine. I would eat something from the bakery in town for breakfast and leave for school. It would take me about ten minutes to walk there after class I would walk back home drop my textbooks off and walk to the train station where I would ride to Isartor, where my mom worked. It always took approximately thirty minutes to get there though. My mom worked in Der Deutsches Museum. I think she was looking at some old letters or something for them... I don't really know. I'm so glad I was able to go though. There was always so much to do. We went to at least two museums a week and we went on lots of window shopping sprees. I think I've never had that much fun in my life. The food was fantastic. I mean, I live in a small city in Alabama and everything here pretty much sucks in comparison. In Germany we had hundreds of restaurants to choose from. I think maybe the food is one of the things I miss the most. I also made some really great friends while I was there. Their names were Di, Mercedes, and Inas. Di was Chinese, Mercedes was Hungarian, and Inas was Tunisian. They were really great. Inas eventually became my best friend though. Di and Mercedes got kind of jealous and they kept on telling me lies about how Inas didn't really like me so we just stopped talking. Near the end of my stay in Germany I went to Inas's house nearly everyday. We mostly just sat around and played video games. Inas was a big fan of wrestling... I always thought that was funny because she was also really girly. Anyways, I could go on and on about things like the Oktoberfest or Die Lange Nacht der Munchner Museen. instead I think I might just make seperate posts about those two things.

Thrift stores make me happy.
Why? I have found some of the most amazing things in them before. I'm pretty sure when I was in California last summer going thrift shopping was the only thing keeping me alive. Okay, well that's probably an exaggeration but I did not enjoy myself there. I hate the suburbs. Anyways! Like I said, I've found many many cool things for great prices. Once I even found a Minolta body for just ten dollars!!! I would've gotten it but my mother made me choose between that and this awesome Samsonite from the 40s. I was already the proud owner of a Minolta so I chose the suitcase. It was my second Samsonite but the one I already had is completely different (I found the first in a thrift store as well.) I also found a Chanel purse, probably from the 80s and I adore it! I'm trying to think of some other particularly fantastic thrifty finds of mine. Oh! Once my friend April and I went on this totally epic thrift store quest a few weeks before Halloween and I found five fully functioning Polaroid cameras each for something like seventy five cents. I'm a bit of a Polaroid addict so I bought them all. We were really looking for some interesting odds and ends that we could use for costumes. She was being a ninja and I was being Pikachu. We both found some things that made our costumes simply fabulous. Sorry, I sound a bit nutty right now. Um, due to the fact that we're both somewhat small people we checked out the kid's clothing section in some stores. I found this really awesome black pleated school girl skirt that April ended up buying. I love being a smart shopper. April made an awesome ninja. I cannot wait until next Halloween. I'm being Sweeney Todd and she's going to be Mrs. Lovett. It'll be smashing. Oh, and I need some help. If you know of any good thrift stores in the Memphis or Birmingham area please tell me!!!

Giraffes make me happy.
Why? Well, they're my favorite animal! I think they're gorgeous. I decided I liked them so much when I went to Disney World last year. Umm, I do have to say I can't stand animal print though, especially those weird giraffe print purses people seem to love. Anyways, giraffes have awesome tongues, they're all blue and stuff! I don't know, I just think they're adorable. Unfortunately there isn't a zoo close to where I live and I'm pretty sure people aren't aloud to have them as pets. So never really get to see them. It's very sad. Hmm, animals are cool. I wish they could speak English. That would be amazing. I'm watching Underdog right now... I really wish I could have a super hero dog. Or better yet, a giraffe. But I'm not so sure that would work very well, they're kind of large. Well, I should probably stop typing now.

The song Flash Delirium by MGMT makes me happy.
Why? It's brilliant and insane and kind of beautiful in an odd way. It doesn't make much sense. The music is great and the lyrics are wonderful. I wish I could write something even half as decent as it. If you don't go listen to it right now I will be very disappointed. The music video for the song is amazing but kind of gross and creepy too so if you decide to watch it you should probably keep that in mind. The end of the song is the best part... By the way, the new MGMT music video for the song It's Working literally just came out and you should watch it. I don't know if it's on youtube but it's on the band's website. It's very cool, I'm watching it right now. I just paused it so it could load and I could tell you about it. So yay! Here are the lyrics for Flash Delirium (after I started talking about a different song I thought to make things clearer I out to mention that): Mild apprehension, blank dreams of the coming fun, distort the odds of a turnaround, gut screams out next to none. So turn it on, tune it in, and stay inert. You say "I've got the backbone." The back way to escape the gun. Climbing a tree with a missing limb and not saving anyone. And now it hurts to stay at home and see flash, the mirror ball's throwing mold. You can't get a grip if there's nothing to hold. See the flash catch a white lily laugh and wilt, but if you must smash a glass first fill it to the hilt. Plants, as far as i know are still, still bending toward the light. And if we dance until the heart explodes it'll make this place ignite. And even if this hall collapses I can stand by my pillar of hope it's just a case of flash delirium. Here's a growing culture deep inside a corpse. Ages stuck together takin' it to the source. Timeless desperation. Pictures on a screen scream "Hey people, what does it mean?" Comfort keeps us nice. So quick to donate everything (nothing arrives.) Die wolken drifting blinding smiles circling (einkreisen.) But times tingling spines, attaching hands to floor, the rosy-tinted flash. The hot dog's getting cold, and you'll never be as good as The Rolling Stones. Watch the birds in the airport gathering dirt. Crowd the clean magazine chick lifting up her skirt. (Why close one eye and try to pledge allegiance to the sun when plastic ghosts start terrorizing everyone. Geometric troops aligning carried up to the burial mounds. My earthbound heart is heavy, your heartbeat keeps things light with the violence forever threatening the night. And even if this hall collapses I can stand on my pillar of hope and trust.) And even if this hall collapses. Lines when I close my eyes and just aim blindly at the sun and hear love. When the ghost start singing, terrorizing everyone. Geometric troops aligning carried up to the burial mounds with gold. it's a heavy time but your rhythm makes it light and explode, like a violent star keeps threatening the night. And even if this hall collapses I can stand by my pillar of hope and trust that our heads won't bust. Six six five five red battle ships forty earthlike planets three holes two tits one fork in its side zero tears in their eyes. Sue the spiders, sink the Welsh, stab your Facebook, sell sell sell, undercooked or overdone, mass adulation not so funny, poisoned honey, pseudo science, silly money, you're my honey.

Thinking about yesterday, June the fourteenth, makes me happy.
Why? I had the most amazing time. Sorry for writing a "what happened in my life today" post. I just couldn't help it. Well, I woke up at three in the morning because I went to sleep in the middle of the afternoon. I never do that. It was nice being the only one awake again though. I didn't really work on my blog, I figured I ought to slow down my posts so that people will actually read them... Maybe. It's not like people tend to care about blogs that don't belong to them of their friends. Moving on! Once my mom woke up I made myself some scrambled eggs because I was quite hungry and I felt like acting mature for a change. They were so good! I thought I hated scrambled eggs but now I definitely don't. I put a lot of hot sauce on them and stuff. I might make some again this morning. After that I took a really nice shower, those are always really fun when living in a house that doesn't have air conditioning. I did have to go to the doctor after that. It was cool though, I got a new doctor and she's really really nice. April, if you're reading this we share the same doctor now and I started laughing really hard when I saw the same nine chairs you blogged about. Anyways, I had to get three shots though and that was kind of icky but I got really awesome Tweety Bird band aids! My mom took me to a diner afterwards to make up for getting shots. I had this massive chocolate chip waffle. It was delicious and I was actually able to eat the whole thing even though it was my second breakfast! Or I suppose you could consider it an early lunch... My mom and I went home later and she slept while I talked to friends on the dreaded Facebook. I got sort of bored doing that so I decided to cut my hair. I really like it a lot. All I did was cut it like and inch or two shorter though, so if you know me then you won't be too surprised when/if you see me in the near future. I went to McFarland Park with Latosha later and that was great because I hadn't seen any of my friends in ages. We went swimming in the river for a while and we even ran into Xena. We got kind of bored though so we decided to go see if Funland was open. What kind of sucks though is that it's open everyday from eight to eleven except for Mondays. We walked over to Miami Ice and got those weird shaved ice cone things. They were super yummy. I know this probably sounds incredibly boring but it really wasn't. Eventually our parents took us both home but not before they agreed that if we, Latosha and I, cleaned our rooms we could hang out at the park again on Friday and go to Funland. My mom and I didn't want to go home after that so we went shopping. She saw Big Lots and decided we should go there. I was kind of irritated about that because I thought it would be really really boring. Of course I was wrong and she was right though. We got two movies, a gigantic lava lamp, craft supplies, and last but not least a tacky crocodile sculpture. We didn't get the crocodiles for us though. I saw them and immediately thought of my English teacher, Mrs. Turner. I named the two crocodiles Ben and Jerry. Their favorite movie is The African Queen, Ben is the fat one and he likes Chunky Monkey ice cream the best and Jerry likes Cherry Garcia. We did the rude thing and just stopped by the Turners' house without calling. I rang the doorbell and at first no one answered. I thought someone was vacuuming, but no Mrs. T and her husband were playing Rock Band. I shouldn't have been surprised. I gave them the crocodiles and somehow my mom and I ended up staying at their house for something like two hours. We talked a lot and we watched part of this really cool dutch musical. It was mind blowing. Anyways, right before we left we all sat down and played scratch off lottery. I won twenty two dollars, that was pretty exciting. We did have to leave though and that was really uncool, in my opinion at least. My mom and I went to Ruby Tuesdays though and stuffed our faces... Not really but we did eat. We started off with these really yummy Asian Dumplings. My mom had a giant salad and I had lobster stuffed ravioli. It was delicious. After that we just came home and I pretty much ran to my bed. That's all. Sorry for boring you.
Long over the phone conversations with friends make me happy.
Why? They're so much fun and they make me feel loved. Yesterday I was bored out of my mind and I missed being able to talk to my friends everyday so I called April. We talked for like, over an hour. Twas very interesting. We mostly talked about music. No surprise there, I guess. I don't know if I can actually say this but we want to write music together... I mean, right now we don't play any instruments but we can both read music. It's never too late to try something new, right? I'm really excited about it. I've been wanting to learn how to play something since I was seven or something. Considering the fact that my dad sort of had a big influence on my life for a while (and he doesn't listen to music at all.) I don't think that's too bad. Well, I want to learn how to play the piano. I would have started a long time ago but I don't exactly have anything to experiment with. I'd also like to eventually learn how to play guitar. Um, I feel sort of stupid talking about this but you know, at least I'm not being fake. April wants to play drums and then eventually bass. We're weird indie pop loving folks so this shouldn't be too surprising, actually. Hm, we also talked about how annoying the fact that you can't block people on blogger is. And soccer, we talked about that too. April also has a new pair of favorite socks. I swear, there must be something wrong with her. Anyone who laughs all the way through Sweeney Todd is demented in my opinion. I don't know. That's all I guess.

Chandeliers make me happy.
Why? I just love how they catch light. They look sort of like small crystal constellations from heaven. Well, maybe not heaven, I sort of have no idea what it looks like there. If it does in fact exist. When I think of chandeliers I think of rain. And Pink Floyd. Because of that weird little crystal pyramid thing. I also think of Crystal Castles and Vampire Weekend. I don't know. Maybe when I'm a grown up kid that lives in Brooklyn I'll have a huge chandelier in my apartment along with a turntable. That would be wicked. I think I kind of made that sound mystical or whatever, it's really not though. I just like chandeliers and that's that.

Donnie Darko makes me happy.
Why? It's a wonderful film. I love how every time I watch it I notice something else new about it. There all sorts of little details in it that people don't normally notice when watching it for the first time. It's one of my very favorite movies. The cast is great. I like it when Jake Gyllenhaal actually plays normal people. Like, I can't watch Prince of Persia because it would ruin Donnie Darko for me. And Brokeback Mountain. He's cooler without all of the weird biceps and whatnot. And for those of you who don't know the girl that played his little sister, Daveigh Chase, acted in a sort of sequel to the movie. It wasn't written or directed by the same guys so it's really just inspired by the first film. It's called S. Darko. I like it a lot because it's really smart. And I love basically anything even remotely related to Donnie Darko.

The song Old Man by Neil Young makes me happy.
Why? Well, first of all, I'm a pretty big Neil Young fan. He's cool. I also like the lyrics. It's a song that's actually about something. Not that most songs aren't. I'm just saying... I don't think it has any hidden meanings. It is quite depressing though. It still does make me happy, just in a weird way. I would put the lyrics in this, but I only trust song booklets and I don't have one for that song. Sorry folks. Just go listen to it or something. I bet you've already heard it.

Easy Mac makes me happy.
Why? It's really good and the perfect dinner for stormy nights. I do have to argue with it's name though. It's not very easy to make well. No matter how hard I try, whenever I make it myself it tastes nasty. I really like that weird cheese dinosaur from the commercials though. He's cute. I need to set up a play date with him and my cats for something.... Hopefully my cats wouldn't try to devour him though. That would be bad. I have a feeling the company could sue me for that. Or sue my mom actually.

Crayons make me happy.
Why? Crayolas have the coolest names. They're perfect. I love how childish pictures look when drawn with them. They are pure bliss. I just wish they didn't break all the time. Then they would be perfect-er. Shut up, I know that's not a real word, I honestly don't care. It's also really fun to melt them with other colors to make rainbow crayons. I did that in daycare once. The other kids and I chose colors and we put them in Reeses cup shells and then the lady that watched us put them in the oven for us. Mine was really pretty. It was really hard to color pictures with though.

Fridge magnets make me happy.
Why? They're fun. I wrote a story about one in English class this year. Here's the story, it's kind of ridiculous but please try not to laugh at me: Mighty Y and the Monster Tarantula. The day the exterminator came, Taylor, the monster tarantula, was hiding in a stale box of Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch Cereal. As soon as the horrific pest killer had left the residence, taylor slowly crept out of his stuffy box. Marla's kitchen was in a bleak state as the spider made his way over to the fridge crowded with all sorts of magnets. In the meantime, the alphabet letters were continuing on with their daily activities of chattering, arm wrestling, and snoozing very soundly... All except for Y who had been carelessly stuck on the otherwise empty left side of the fridge watching Seinfield. With no one at all to comfort him, he became very lonely. Taylor payed little attention to him as he began to conjure up a plan to devour all of the magnets. Soon, the letters started to disappear one by one and the monster tarantula got fatter and fatter. In the course of half an hour, Y was the only one left. Taylor hobbled over to the chartreuse letter, ready to munch him all up. Excited with his new company, Y started up a conversation with the peculiar figure. Taylor was so bloated after his alphabet buffet that he didn't even bother to shut him up. "Hello, I hate to be so rude, but who - err, what are you?" Y inquired. "I am Taylor, the monster tarantula from the bottomless pits of peanut butter cereal," he replied. "Okay," Y said as if that was the most ordinary answer he could possibly have received. "Do you like Seinfield?" "Nah, I'm more of an I Love Lucy kind of guy," Taylor stated. Y asked with a troubled look on his face, "Why have you been eating everyone?" "I was bored, and why do you care? They never talked to you," Taylor sighed. "They are my family though; and I think it would be a healthy decision for you to spit them all out this very instant," the letter demanded. With a bit of convincing, the tarantula did just that, and upon Marla's return from the supermarket, the entire alphabet told her what had taken place in her absence. Marla gave Y and Taylor premium TV watching conditions. From that point on, the two oddballs were best friends.

My cat's dysfunctional tail makes me happy.
Why? If I step on it he doesn't flip out or anything because he can't feel it. And that makes me feel less guilty when I do. He tends to get in the way a lot. He's very lovable though... Usually. He bites me a lot. I think he's a vampire in training. His name is Sergeant Pepper. I'm very proud of myself for coming up with that. I have another cat named George. But he's named after George Washington. Not Harrison. Everyone thinks me and my mom are cat-crazed Beatles fans. And, well, we sort of are but we aren't as obsessed as everyone seems to think.
